Sandbag Station
1410 Government Avenue
In spring and fall, when flooding is a risk in low-lying areas, the City of Merritt replenishes the sand at the self-serve sandbagging station located at 1410 Government Avenue, between Main Street and Hill Street (diagonally across from Centennial Park).
Restocking of the sandbagging station is typically prompted by high-water advisories — for example, in the fall when heavy rainfall may affect the Coldwater River, and in the spring when freshet conditions may impact the Nicola River.
The station provides sand, a shovel, and sandbags. Users are required to fill their own sandbags. Please do not remove any tools from the site.
