Larry Reda, a legendary football administrator in the province of British Columbia, passed away on Thursday at the age of 94. TSN’s Farhan Lalji was the first to report the news.

Reda was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame as a builder in 2015, recognizing his lifetime contributions to the sport. He was also a charter member of the British Columbia Football Hall of Fame in 2011, and received both the CFL’s Commissioner’s Award and Seattle Seahawks’ 12th Man North award that year.

A firefighter by professing, Reda began coaching minor football on the north shore of Vancouver in 1956 and would remain involved in the sport for 50 years. He served two stints as president of the BC Amateur Football Association (now known as Football BC) and was executive director of the BC High School Football Association for over 20 years.

Reda was also the director and president of the British Columbia Football Conference and was honoured as a lifetime member by the Canadian Junior Football League. He served as a trustee of the selection committee for the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame, the chairman of the Subway Bowl high school championships, and established the Western Canada All-Star football camp, which ran annually at Simon Fraser University.
