Despite having quite a few proven veteran stars on their roster, the Sacramento Kings have been a disaster this season. They enter the weekend with a 6-19 record, which is tied for the third worst in the entire NBA. That is why it should come as no surprise that many league analysts and insiders believe they will be the first team to start selling off pieces in the weeks ahead.
One of those notable names that should soon be on the move is six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan. With that in mind, let’s look at five teams that could pursue DeRozan, including the Boston Celtics.

Many thought the Celtics would take a big step back this year, with top star Jayson Tatum expected to miss most, if not all, of this season. Yet, as we near the holiday season, they have the third-best record in the East and one of the better defenses in the game. Unsurprisingly, they could use some help on offense.
Although they have one of the highest offensive ratings in the NBA, they are still just scoring 116 points per game. DeRozan’s scoring and reputation would be a nice addition and take a lot of pressure off Jaylen Brown.

Something feels right about the idea of DeRozan returning to the Toronto Raptors. Especially right now. They are off to a very strong start, but it is due to some strong play on defense instead of on offense. They are averaging just 115 PPG, so they could use some scoring help from the team legend. DeRozan returning during a major resurgence for the franchise would be one of the best stories in the league.

The Utah Jazz seem headed to be a lottery team again in 2025-26. However, there have been rumors that they would like to add better talent around the combo of Lauri Markkanen and Keyonte George. Adding a player like DeRozan could go a long way toward helping them make a serious run at landing an NBA Play-In Tournament spot this year.

The Golden State Warriors enter the weekend with a very underwhelming 13-12 record. While Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green have suggested defense is the problem, they are among the worst scoring teams in the league right now. They clearly need an offensive boost and a little more grit. The 36-year-old would certainly bring that in the second half.
Cleveland Cavaliers

The expectation was that the Cleveland Cavaliers would again be fighting for the top spot in the Eastern Conference this season. However, the Cavs are just 14-11 and aren’t a lock to avoid being in the play-in this season. While they have good depth, they badly lack a strong No. 2 scorer after Donovan Mitchell. DeRozan could be a big difference maker in the second half for Cleveland and make life far easier for their top star.
