This week we put the pedal to the metal as Brad Pitt takes centre stage in the motor-racing film F1 and Daniel Craig is back as the excellently eccentric Benoit Blanc in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The world’s biggest pop star, Taylor Swift, gives us a glimpse behind the scenes on her record-breaking Eras tour and Doctor Who has a spin-off in the shape of The War Between the Land and the Sea.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (Netflix)
A standalone sequel to Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) and the third film from Rian Johnson’s mystery series of movies, Daniel Craig is back as the detective Benoit Blanc in another fun adventure. This time Blanc is summoned to upstate New York to investigate a murder connected to the church. Buckle up for a movie filled with misdirection, classic lines and featuring turns from Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington and Andrew Scott.

Taylor Swift: The End of an Era (Disney+)
Spanning 149 shows across 51 cities on five continents, Taylor Swift’s Eras tour was a phenomenon in music and pop culture terms and is the highest grossing music tour. But what was going on behind the scenes as this musical juggernaut travelled around the world? This six-part docuseries paints an intimate portrait of the preparations for the tour, the inner workings of the events and the inspiration for the huge undertaking. The series features interviews with friends of Swift including Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran and Florence Welch.

Brad Pitt stars in this high-octane drama about a washed-up former Formula 1 driver, Sonny Hayes, who spent the past 30 years as a driver for hire after crashing out of the Spanish Grand Prix in 1993. In a bid to save his friend’s team from collapse, Sonny returns to the fray in this exciting sports drama helmed by the Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. The cast also includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Damson Idris and Tobias Menzies. A roaring start to your weekend.

The story centres on six people in a divorce support group who move from seeking help to plotting to take revenge on their ex-partners.

The War Between the Land and the Sea (BBC iPlayer)

Although the deal between the BBC and Disney to make Doctor Who has now come to an end, this show was commissioned before that decision was taken and forms a new expansion of the “Whoniverse”. Created by the screenwriter and producer Russell T Davies, starring Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jemma Redgrave, the spin-off is based around the adventures of Unit, who must prevent a global war after the Sea Devil monsters emerge from the oceans and threaten humanity.
