The Cincinnati Bengals, while a 4-9 team and on the verge of elimination, are drawing a lot of attention from around the NFL this week.
Joe Burrow, during a press conference, was making some concerning comments about his thoughts on his status in the NFL. Those comments led fans and media alike to speculate whether he would request a trade, and which teams would be great fits for Burrow.
While those rumors have taken off, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported on the trade speculation surrounding Burrow. Her update revealed a big update for the Bengals and their fans amid the threat of Burrow leaving.
Will Joe Burrow request a trade? Insider reveals big Bengals update
“Naturally, when executives and coaches around the league heard about a frustrated-sounding Burrow, the same question floated around: ‘Does he want out of Cincinnati?'” Russini writes. “The answer is no. Burrow, I’m told, hasn’t asked for a trade or even hinted at stepping away.”
This update from Russini makes it clear: Burrow has not, and likely will not, request a trade or consider retirement from the Bengals.
His comments were very concerning amid a brutal season, but Burrow is reportedly showing no interest in calling it quits or asking out of Cincinnati.
Plenty of teams would love to trade for Burrow, but the franchise quarterback in Cincinnati has no such plans or thoughts. At least, right now.
Things could always change, but for now, Burrow has every intention of remaining the Bengals quarterback.
Burrow has played in just four games this season, and the Bengals QB has thrown for 734 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions during this lost season.
His frustrations with the Bengals organization might be warranted, and his requesting a trade after these frustrated comments wouldn’t be a major surprise.
But Burrow isn’t going anywhere. He’s not requested a trade and wants to stay with the Bengals. Unfortunately for all those QB-needy teams, Burrow is going nowhere.
