What happened in the first round of the Grant Thornton?
Two groups had record days on Friday. Moments after the Charley Hull-Michael Brennan signed for a 17-under 55, the Lexi Thompson-Wyndham Clark twosome matched it. Each pair had two eagles, 13 birdies and two pars on the par-72 Tiburon Golf Club. That was in the best-ball format. Saturday’s second round will be alternate shot.
