Last night, live from Madison Square Garden in New York, the young Montreal Canadiens goaltender, Jacob Fowler, suffered his first NHL loss.
It was absolutely not his fault, especially since, personally, I was once again very impressed by his calmness and poise in front of his net.
I sincerely hope that Canadiens management will keep him (at least for a little while longer) in Montreal, even though he lost his game.
A gesture that gets people talking involving young Jacob Fowler
But rather what happened after the Rangers’ third goal.
The rookie goaltender Fowler was roughed up by a Rangers player, and what did the Canadiens players who were on the ice do? Yes. Absolutely nothing at all.
Martin St-Louis addressed it during his postgame press conference, but it is completely unacceptable.
Joe Veleno and Noah Dobson were notably in the thick of the action and were well positioned to defend their young goaltender, but no-nothing at all!

I really hope the Canadiens players do a better job of protecting young Fowler next time!
