A tree in a lush, green forest contains a sign attached to its trunk. The sign features several messages, including "Tread Lightly," "DO NOT SHARE/POST," "Respect the woods," and "Keep this OFF STRAVA." In the background, a small creek can be seen with smooth stones and sandy areas along its banks.

“Are we on the internet?”

Without so much as a greeting, that was the question the gruff-looking man asked me point-blank. “No, sir,” I replied.

“Good,” he said. With that, he continued walking down the trail as I rolled in the opposite direction.

Sometimes we keep the trails we ride a secret, either because their access depends on it or because we selfishly want them all to ourselves. Tell us if you withhold information about some or all of the trails you ride, and why.

Is it wrong to keep trails secret, or is it justified in some circumstances? Tell us in the comments below!
