Indian Wells final – Jack Draper beat Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2
One of the biggest matches of Jack Draper’s season came in the final of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells when he took on Denmark’s Holger Rune.
Having already bypassed Joao Fonseca, Jenson Brooksby, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz, Draper was fired up for the final in the Californian desert and produced a dominant display against the Dane.
The British No.1 dropped just four games on his way to beating Rune 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 10 minutes to lift a career-first Masters 1000 title.
“I wasn’t expecting this,” Draper said. “I’ve put in a lot of work over time. I’m just so grateful and so happy to be out here to be able to play, my body feeling healthy, to feel great in the mind. Just all the work I’ve done over the last few years, it feels like it’s coming together on the big stage and I can’t put that into words.”
