Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) president Steve Ninvalle says the organisation can now move forward with clarity after Guyana was officially granted provisional recognition by World Boxing, ending months of uncertainty that left the local programme in administrative limbo.
In an invited comment to Stabroek Sport, Ninvalle welcomed the decision but did not hide his frustration over the lengthy delay in the approval process. “We’re happy that we got that recognition but we’re concerned that it took so long. Just recently we would have been denied a chance of sending a team to the Islamic Solidarity Games because we did not have this recognition from World Boxing. It actually left us in a state of ambivalence, we did not know how, what, where or why,” Ninvalle said.
