The Indianapolis Colts worked out four CFL players on Tuesday, including B.C. Lions defensive back Robert Carter Jr.

Also in attendance at the workout, per the NFL’s transaction wire, were Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ linebacker Devin Veresuk, Toronto Argonauts’ linebacker Aaron Casey, and Toronto Argonauts’ safety Derek Slywka. 3DownNation first reported Slywka’s workout on Monday.

Carter started all 18 games in 2025, earning the Lions’ team nomination for Most Outstanding Rookie. He recorded 51 defensive tackles, five interceptions, one forced fumble, and a defensive touchdown. Carter also started both of the team’s playoff games, adding a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown in the West Semi-Final.

The five-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback quickly earned a reputation for generating spectacular plays. That included a leaping, one-handed interception against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats that made highlight reels on both sides of the border and is widely regarded as the CFL play of the year.

Prior to signing with the Lions, Carter attended Robert Morris University, where he was a second-team all-conference selection as a senior in 2024. In two seasons with the Colonials, he amassed 66 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, 14 pass breakups, five interceptions, and two blocked kicks, while returning 22 kicks for 588 yards and one touchdown.

The native of Danville, Va., transferred from UVA-Wise, where he produced 74 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 17 pass breakups, seven interceptions and one fumble recovery in two seasons. Carter also returned 31 kickoffs for 660 yards and one touchdown for the Division II program.

This was Carter’s second NFL workout, following a visit to the Denver Broncos last Friday.

Veresuk was the second overall pick in the 2025 CFL Draft and made 15 regular-season starts at middle linebacker for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in his first year. He recorded 66 defensive tackles, three special team tackles, two sacks, two touchdowns, one forced fumble, and one interception. The native of Windsor, Ont., was named the East Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie.

The 24-year-old played collegiately for the University of Windsor. He registered 160 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, nine sacks, five pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles, and one interception returned for a touchdown with the Lancers and was named an OUA all-star in 2024.

This was Veresuk’s fifth NFL workout, following visits to the New Orleans SaintsHouston Texans, Cleveland Browns, and Denver Broncos.

Casey appeared in 15 games for the Argonauts as a rookie in 2025, primarily in package roles. The six-foot-two, 235-pounder recorded 27 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, six sacks, and a forced fumble.

The 25-year-old played collegiately at Indiana University, where he was a first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior. In 57 games for the Hoosiers, he amassed 244 total tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, five forced fumbles, and a blocked kick.

This was Casey’s first NFL workout of the offseason. He previously spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2024.

Slywka recorded 46 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, one defensive touchdown, and one missed field goal return touchdown over 15 regular-season games in 2025. He was Toronto’s nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie.

The six-foot-three, 215-pound defender attended training camp with the Colts in 2024, though he was converted to wide receiver. He caught three passes for 27 yards during the preseason but was released before the start of the regular season.

Slywka played collegiately at Ithaca College, where he made 119 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 11 interceptions, 30 pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and four blocked kicks.

This was his first NFL workout, though he is expected to have another with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The NFL workout window opened on Monday, November 17. The window to sign with an NFL team opens January 5, 2026, and ends February 10, 2026, at 12:01 p.m. EST.

NFL teams must ask CFL franchises for permission to work out players, and the request cannot be denied. CFL players can opt out of their agreements north of the border if an NFL team offers a contract, though their CFL team maintains their rights through the duration of their pre-existing contract.

The Indianapolis Colts are currently third in the AFC South with an 8-6 record. They will host the San Francisco 49ers (10-4) on Monday, December 22, at 8:15 p.m. EST.
