WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu becomes latest athlete to have home raided by thieves with luxury handbags stolen

WNBA hero Sabrina Ionescu has become the latest athlete to have their home raided.

There has been a string of burglaries targeting the houses of professional sports stars.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Joe Burrow and Becky Lynch all saw their properties broken into.

Tennessee Titans ace Jeffrey Simmons returned from their match in San Francisco to find his back window smashed.

And now Ionescu has suffered a similar fate.

According to TMZ, the New York Liberty icon, 28, had her Los Angeles home hit on Monday night.

It is understood the Californian and her husband Hroniss Grasu were not at home at the time of the shocking incident.

Reports state LAPD were called to the property around 8pm to investigate a burglary.

Two suspects used a tool to smash the back door glass and break in.

They then “ransacked the location and took the victim’s property”.

The police did not confirm exactly what items were stolen.

However, NBC reported the criminals escaped with several luxury handbags worth more than $60,000.

The pair fled the scene in a vehicle in an unknown direction.

Ionescu and her former NFL-player husband Grasu both have Romanian heritage but are Californian natives.

The couple got married in March 2024.

Ionescu was the first overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft and was crowned WNBA champion in 2024, the same year she won Olympic gold with Team USA.
