OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 15R smartphone and Pad Go 2 would be coming to Canada and the U.S. today, and now we finally have official details of both devices.
OnePlus 15R Smartphone

As a more affordable variant of the OnePlus 15, the OnePlus 15R features the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, co-defined and optimized with OnePlus to offer 36% faster CPU speeds, 11% faster GPU speeds, and 46% better AI performance than the previous generation chipset. Alongside the new chipset, OnePlus 15R also features LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 ROM for fast speeds when creating, copying or moving data.
Equipped with a massive 7,400mAh battery, the largest ever shipped in a OnePlus flagship device, it supports OnePlus’s 55W SUPERVOOC fast charging technology and is built to run in harsh environments, continuing to run with at least 80% capacity after four years. It’s also built with OnePlus’ Silicon Nanostack technology, with 15% silicon content inside its anode, which OnePlus says provides “excellent energy density.”
The 360-degree Cryo Velocity Cooling System consists of a Cryo Velocity Screen Cooler just under the display that uses aerogel to provide thermal protection from heat generated inside the phone. There’s also a Cryo Velocity 3D Vapor Chamber, built with a proprietary design specifically created to cool high end processors, measuring 5,704mm. This features a range of materials, including hand-tearable steel, to dissipate huge levels of heat. Finally, OnePlus 15R’s Cryo Velocity Back Cover features a layer of graphite across the lower half of the phone to give that extra bit of cooling across its chassis.

The 165Hz LTPS 1.5K AMOLED display measures 6.83 inches and features 450 pixels per inch. It can go as high as 1800 nits of brightness and as low as 1 nit with Reduce White Point activated. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor affords rapid unlocking, and there’s also a dedicated Touch Response Chip to ensure the high refresh rate screen is sensitive, with an instant touch sampling rate of 3,200Hz for super smooth scrolling.
The exterior design includes new rounder corners and a smooth transition to the device’s mid-frame as well as a redesigned camera bump to cut down on fatigue when holding the device for an extended period. It comes in Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze, both with Velvet Glass technology. Ultra durable, it meets IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K for not only water submersion but also close-range water jets and extreme temperatures.
It has a 32MP selfie camera with autofocus and a 50MP main camera, the same IMX906 sensor found on OnePlus 15, along with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with a 112-degree field of view.
The new OnePlus DetailMax Engine includes Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst, and Clear Night Engine, all features found in the OnePlus 15 as well. OnePlus 15R can record 4K video at up to 120 frames per second and allows you to edit the footage directly on the device.

Of course, it’s loaded with AI features as well through OxygenOS 16 with OnePlus AI and Google Gemini. OxygenOS 16 introduces intelligent AI capabilities, centred around Plus Mind, as with the OnePlus 15. By pressing the dedicated Plus Key or swiping up with three fingers, you can instantly save any on-screen content to a unified Mind Space knowledge base. In addition, Google Gemini can connect with Mind Space to pull information and provide personalized suggestions based on what you’ve saved, all from a single prompt. Read more about it in my OnePlus 15 review. Eligible OnePlus users can enjoy a three-month trial of Google AI Pro, including expanded access to new and powerful features in the Gemini app like Veo 3 and Nano Banana, higher usage limits in NotebookLM, and Gemini in Gmail, Docs and more. It’s $20/mo. thereafter and will automatically renew if you don’t cancel.
Parallel Processing 2.0 ensuring systemwide smoothness during app switching, navigation, and multitasking. The interface features seamless motion animations that provide visual previews of transitions, creating a naturally responsive feel. The Dual App Control feature enables simultaneous operation of two applications on a single screen, significantly enhancing productivity.
The OnePlus 15R comes in a 12GB RAM, 256GB version for $1,000 in Canada, or 12GB, 512GB version for $1,150, the latter only available in Charcoal Black. Grab the Sandstone or Hole-Pattern magnetic cases for $45 ea. The phone is currently on pre-order and will officially go on sale on January 8, 2026.
