The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is taking another step toward the development of its lunar utility rover, which will be designed to handle logistics tasks, support astronauts during spacewalks on the lunar surface, and perform science investigations. The CSA recently awarded $3.8 million in contracts to advance instrument concepts to support essential scientific activities aligned with the needs of several international partners.
Over the next nine months, ABB Inc., Bornea Dynamics Ltd., Bubble Technology Industries, Mission Control, and Western University will develop and refine their concepts by teaming up with other partners from academia and industry. These collaborations bring together a mix of experienced organizations and newcomers to the space sector. By combining skills, expertise, and new perspectives, they will help drive innovation, refine capabilities, and explore a broad range of scientific instrument options for the utility rover.
