Alexandra Eala has capped off her breakthrough season with a golden touch, winning the women’s singles tennis gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games.

The 20-year-old Filipina seized the Southeast Asian accolade with a 6-1, 6-2 win over world No. 240 Mananchaya Sawangkaew in the final in Bangkok on Thursday (18 December).

Eala becomes the first Filipina singles player to win a Southeast Asian Games gold medal in 26 years, following in the footsteps of Pia Tamayo (1981) and Maricris Fernandez (1999).
