LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Detectives are actively seeking additional victims of Sergio Reyes Rojas, a 44-year-old youth soccer coach facing multiple child sexual abuse charges following his arrest last week.

Rojas, who served as the director and coach of Las Vegas Diversity FC, is charged with three counts of sexual assault against a child under 16, one count of child abuse or neglect, and one count of kidnapping a minor.

A mother, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed her shock and the decision to pull her son from the team.

“We’ve been with that team for quite a while. He was actually my son’s former coach,” she said. “We can’t trust anyone now; it’s going to be challenging.”

In a statement on Facebook, Las Vegas Diversity FC announced Rojas’s resignation from his roles four days after his arrest, citing personal reasons, while acknowledging his contributions to the club.

“Coach Reyes has been an integral part of Las Vegas Diversity FC, dedicating his time, passion, and leadership to the development of young athletes and the growth of the club within the Las Vegas community,” the statement read.

After news of his arrest was released, the organization released another statement saying the allegations do not involve any current or former members of the club or the youth sports community.

“At no time has the safety or well-being of our players been compromised,” the statement emphasized.

The concerned mother shared her recent conversation with her son about the allegations. “And I asked him, look, I’m hearing that this happened, this is what’s going on, this is what’s on the news, has any of this happened to you?” she recounted.

She is now seeking a new team for her son, stating, “We’re going to be more cautious on where we’re going to take him.”
