Wang Kun won eight consecutive championships in China during his career.
The Chinese bodybuilding community suffered a devastating loss recently. Former champion Wang Kun died suddenly, according to an announcement on Wednesday by the Anhui Provincial Bodybuilding Association. Kun was 30 years old.
Kun, who made a huge name for himself in the bodybuilding world, passed away due to an apparent heart problem, according to reports. The official cause of death has not been confirmed just yet. It was said that Kun appeared to be in good health just days before his death.
Kun was a professional athlete with the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness Professional League. He was considered to be one of the best athletes in China, and certainly in the bodybuilding world. During his career, Kun won eight consecutive titles at the CBBA National Bodybuilding championships. Along with his work on the bodybuilding stage, Kun owned and ran his own gym called Muscle Factory.
To help aid in his own journey, Wang Kun shared on multiple occasions that he lived a “monk’s life” for a decade to transform his physique into championship shape. his diet consisted of hot pot broth with meat dipped in soy sauce and boiled chicken breast.
In November 2022, Wang Kun became an IFBB Pro. His plan was to reach elite status in the league in the Men’s 212 division. In June, Kun competed in the Huanji China Pro 2, finishing 16th in the Men’s Open division.
The Bodybuilding Community Mourns Recent Losses
Wang Kun has followed in an unfortunate string of deaths in the bodybuilding community. Kun became well known for his work as a bodybuilder while also helping others during their fitness ventures. His hometown gym had a large following from loyal customers who believed Kun could help them improve their fitness. Many fans took to social media to share their condolences and different feelings on Kun.
This includes Fabiano Andrade, who passed away just weeks after competing in the Musclecontest Brasil Pro. Fabiano Andrade turned into a competitive bodybuilder at a young age. He was able to build a physique that was able to stand up on stage with the best in the world. This includes NPC appearances in 2019 along with a fourth-place finish at the Arnold Amateur South America.
Just weeks prior, it was reported that IFBB Women’s Physique Pro Jessica Rivera passed away. Rivera put together an impressive bodybuilding career that earned her a Pro Card nearly a decade ago. She became known in Women’s Physique for her impressive conditioning and muscle tone. Rivera was able to become a strong competitor in the division over the course of her career.
Wang Kun enjoyed a successful bodybuilding career while using his platform to become a business owner. His work in his own gym helped others physically while building close relationships with his loyal following. Kun will be remembered for his incredible physique that led to becoming a household name in China with many victories on stage.
