The BC Lions announced on Wednesday the signing of American defensive back Tyson Russell, who was with the Detroit Lions this past preseason.
Tyson Russell – Vanderbilt (5’11, 185lbs)
Tyson Russell played his collegiate ball for Vanderbilt from 2021 to 2024. He played in 44 games with the program, with 16 starts. He recorded 92 total tackles (63 solo, 29 assisted), 2.5 tackles for a loss, 5 pass breakups, and an interception with the program.
He signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent and played in 4 preseason games before he was waived. He recorded 8 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 2 passes defended, and an interception in the preseason for Detroit.
Tyson Russell is the son of Twan Russell, who played seven seasons in the NFL at defensive back with time spent with the Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, and Atlanta Falcons.
