The Toronto Tempo, Canada’s first and only WNBA team, has launched the franchise’s uniforms ahead of the club’s first tip-off.

While an official roster has yet to be finalized, fans of the city’s first professional women’s basketball team now know what the jerseys will look like when players take the court for the 2026 season.

Toronto Tempo reveals first WNBA jerseys

The Tempo’s uniform includes the team’s signature colours of borealis blue and Tempo bordeaux, featuring the logo’s six speed lines that represent the six boroughs that make up the city of Toronto.

The movement and variation in the lines’ thickness “mirror the heartbeat, shifts in pace, and rhythm of both the city and the game — a nod to basketball’s natural tempos and moments of momentum,” according to a team press release

The six lines also represent the five players on the court, supported by the sixth player in the game — the fans.

“Today marks another meaningful milestone on our journey to bringing Canada’s first WNBA team to life,” said Whitney Bell, Chief Marketing Officer of Toronto Tempo.

“Every detail of these uniforms is intentional. From the colour story to the speed lines, we’ve created a design that brings our brand to life and represents our city, our fans, and our team. We cannot wait for our players — and our fans — to wear them with pride.”

Tempo partnering with Sephora and CIBC

The team’s corporate partners, Sephora and CIBC, will have their patches featured on the jersey, with Sephora’s logo on the shoulder, and CIBC’s patch located on the abdomen.

To celebrate the launch, Sephora is donating $26 for the first 1,000 jerseys purchased to Girls E-Mentorship, a Canadian organization that provides high school girls who face socio-economic barriers with leadership and professional skills.

“Our partnership with Toronto Tempo is rooted in our shared beliefs of inclusivity, self-expression and the growing cultural impact of women’s sports in Canada,” says Allison Litzinger, SVP, Marketing of Sephora Canada.

“Having players and fans wear Sephora on their jersey represents our unwavering support of celebrating beauty in all its forms, both on the court and in the community.”

The new jerseys include the WNBA Nike Heroine Edition in white and the WNBA Nike Explorer Edition in tempo bordeaux, and will be available for fans to purchase in early Jan. 2026.

To be the first to know when the Explorer jerseys become available, fans can sign up through TorontoTempo.com.

When does the Toronto Tempo’s first season begin?

Before their season is set to begin in May 2026, the Tempo will partake in a WNBA expansion draft, where management will select players.

Each existing team will be allowed to protect five players on their current roster, with the rest becoming available to be selected by either the Toronto Tempo or Portland Fire, another expansion franchise.

The WNBA Draft takes place April 13, 2026 and Toronto will pick sixth overall.

With the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations still underway, an official start date for the 2026 WNBA season has yet to be determined.

Stay tuned as the Toronto Tempo’s first game will be announced in the near future, along with ticketing information.
