The heavyweight fight between Jake Paul and former world champion Anthony Joshua is set after the official weigh-in took place on Thursday. Both fighters took the scale at noon ET at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.
Kaseya Center, the home of the NBA’s Miami Heat, will host the bout, with Netflix streaming it worldwide. The British fighter couldn’t weigh more than 245 pounds, something he achieved.
Paul weighed in at 216.6 pounds, while Joshua came in at 243.4 pounds, the lightest he has been since September 2021, when he took on Oleksandr Usyk for the first time.
As per usual, Paul’s fights include slight changes. This time, the ring will be bigger, at 22-by-22 feet (the standard is a 20-by-20-foot ring). They will wear 10-ounce gloves, the standard for heavyweight fights.
Paul campaigned in the heavyweight category in November 2024. He beat the legend Mike Tyson in an eight-round bout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. His next fight was against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at cruiserweight. Paul beat the Mexican fighter by unanimous decision in a 10-round fight at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Joshua was once one of the most promising heavyweights in the world. After Andy Ruiz upset him in 2019, he struggled to be as dominant as before. His most recent fight ended in a fifth-round knockout against Daniel Dubois in September 2024 at Wembley Stadium in London.
Paul enters the ring with a 12-1-0 (7 KO’s) record, while Joshua boasts a 28-3 (25 KO’s) record. The event will start at 8 PM ET on Friday.
