Tyron Woodley Reveals UFC Contender Helped Prepare for Silva
On Friday night, two of the most recognizable names in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history collide under the bright lights as Tyron Woodley steps into the ring against Anderson Silva. Once champions at the peak of the UFC, both fighters now chase something different: legacy beyond the octagon. Woodley brings raw power, intensity, and a point to prove, while Silva counters with unmatched creativity, experience, and calm under pressure.
This matchup comes with several questions, such as who will be the more aggressive fighter and which former mixed martial arts bro still belongs on the national stage. Woodley and Silva are headlining the undercard of the highly anticipated main event between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua.
Tyron Woodley vs. Anderson Silva Headlines Miami Boxing Card
The boxing event is being streamed on Netflix and is taking place in Miami, Florida. The fight will be a six-round cruiserweight bout at the Kaseya Center.
This fight between two UFC legends is possible because Chris Weidman, who was Anderson Silva’s original opponent, had to back out of the fight due to injury.
Some analysts give Silva a slight edge due to his experience/comfort in the ring (more professional boxing fights) and his ability to control the fight. However, Woodley might have an edge in terms of power, which means he could edge out Silva with just a few power shots.

Silva carries a 3-2 record in professional fights, while Tyron Woodley is still searching for his first victory (0-2). Both opponents have something in common, though; both have lost to Jake Paul, who is headlining this card.
Both fighters losing to Jake Paul may have kick-started their journey to pursue professional boxing after their MMA careers.
Woodley & Silva’s UFC Background
Both Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva were once UFC champions, so their grit in the fighting world can not be undermined.
Woodley holds a 19-7-1 record in the UFC, and last fought back in 2021 against Vincent Luque. Woodley has been 19-3-1, but he finished his UFC career on a four-fight loss streak.
As for Anderson Silva (50), who is seven years older than Woodley (43), his UFC career lasted nearly 20 years. His record in the UFC is 34-11-0, and like Woodley, he didn’t finish his career on top. Silva lost four of his final five fights, but fought in 13 championship bouts throughout his career.
Many consider Anderson Silva to be one of the greatest UFC fighters to step into the octagon.
Despite sharing overlapping eras in the UFC, Woodley and Silva never squared off against each other. Silva ruled the middleweight division, while Woodley came up through the welterweight ranks.
Still, their legacies often invite comparison. Silva for his artistry and longevity, and Woodley for his explosiveness and control. Their long-anticipated clash comes not as a continuation of rivalry, but as a meeting of parallel greatness finally intersecting.
