[Q] Adrian Mannarino (FRA) 6-2, 6-3Shelton did what he does best, blasting 16 aces past the Frenchman and dropping just three points on his first serve and 10 on his delivery overall. The American saved the only two break points he faced while converting three, needing just over an hour to claim victory.[27] Gabriel Diallo (CAN) d. [WC] Matteo Gigante (ITA)While missed break point opportunities made the match much more challenging, Diallo found a way to get the job done in straight sets. The Canadian raced out to a 3-0 lead which was enough to take the first set despite a rain delay at 5-3. Gigante responded and led 5-2 in the second with two set points on Diallo’s serve, but the Montrealer saved them and then broke back. He then rallied from 5-3 down in the tiebreak, winning the last four points in a row to seal the win in two sets.
