TALLADEGA, Ala. (WBRC) – The NASCAR community in Talladega, who knew Greg Biffle, are reacting to the death of former NASCAR driver.
Biffle and his family were killed in a plane crash yesterday afternoon in North Carolina.
“The racing community in general across all aspects. You know everybody kind of shares a common bond, a common brotherhood. When something happens, you feel like you lose a member of the family,” said International Motorsports Hall of Fame Chairman George Booker.
Shocked to hear of his passing and the thought of never seeing him again, many say not only was he a good driver, but a better man.
“Some things Greg had done over the past few years for the folks in the Carolinas and Tennessee who lived through those horrific storms that came through and also returned on Easter and dropped 4,000 eggs for the kids and families, so I think that says a lot about Greg and his character,” said Interim Director Jimmy Vineyard of the the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
After surviving a career of driving close to 200 miles per hour, Chairman Booker says Biffle had finally slowed down.
“Greg was really living his life to the fullest. He made the most of life after his NASCAR career, so he truly was living his life to the best and it’s an even more tragic loss because of that,” said Booker.
“We wish the best to everyone in the family and as I said earlier the extended family,” said Vineyard.
Chairman George Booker went on to say he expects to see Biffle honored at races next season and that he will always be a part of NASCAR.
