Sophie Cunningham is considering a WWE run after her WNBA career is over.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Show Me Something podcast, Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham shared that she grew up watching WWE and revealed that she was once asked to be a part of the company. She also noted that she may do it during the off-season or after she retires from the WNBA.
“I grew up on that sh*t. WWE, baby!” Cunningham exclaimed. “Me and [my sister] Lindsey used to wrestle all the time, and our parents would have to call it. Kane, Hulk (Hogan). Oh my God. I used to watch the Hulk all the time, the reality TV show. John Cena was just the absolute best.”
“They asked me to do it,” said Cunningham. “You know, maybe after I retire or off-season, maybe us two (co-host West Wilson) will be the new WWE duo.” [H/T Fightful]
During his recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe revealed that he once turned down a WWE writer role because it required him to relocate to Stamford, Connecticut.
“Yeah, it was only a couple years into me doing standup like seven nights a week at the comedy store all the time. Someone’s like, ‘Hey, I have a friend in WWE if you want to have a meeting with them and just talk.’
“I went in with straight-up ideas, this that, The Undertaker’s brother comes back again, this, that, the next, everything back and forth. I can’t even remember any of them; it’s been so long. But I went in with a whole thing, this guy’s like, ‘Where the hell did you? This is crazy, you just did this?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I found out a couple days ago we were going to talk.’
“They (WWE) offered it, but I would have had to move to Connecticut and take a train to New York every night to go do standup, and that would have just been exhausting…
“…If it was anywhere else other than Connecticut, it kind of would have made sense; if it was in New York City, it would have been a no-brainer. If it was in LA, definitely.” [H/T: WrestleTalk]
