Drake was confident that Jake Paul could pull off an upset victory over Anthony Joshua in their heavyweight boxing match on Friday night.
He was so confident, in fact, that he posted an image of a $200,000 bet that he placed on Paul to emerge victorious over Joshua, which would pay out $1.64 million.
Unfortunately for Drake, Joshua dominated Paul, securing a sixth-round knockout to beat the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Drake was hoping for a better result than the $355,000 wager he placed on Mike Tyson to defeat Paul in Nov. 2024, as “The Problem Child” ended up winning.
The 39-year-old has generated attention for his large bets on a variety of sports, but hasn’t found much success with boxing as of late.
Drake lost a $565,000 bet on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk in May 2024 after losing a $615,000 wager on Francis Ngannou to beat Joshua in March of the same year.
Joshua has only fought once since his victory over Ngannou, suffering a defeat at the hands of Daniel Dubois in Sept. 2024. Still, his track record made him the favorite over Paul.
The former two-time unified WBO, IBF, and WBA heavyweight champion boasted a 28-4 record, including 25 knockouts, entering Friday’s fight.
As for Paul, he entered Friday’s bout with a record of 12-1. He had won each of his past six fights, with his last victory coming against Julio César Chávez Jr. on June 28.
With his latest loss coming to Joshua, Drake might think twice before placing a bet on Paul in the future.
