The off-season has turned into a race against time for Brad Keselowski. The driver-owner of RFK Racing, who won the Cup Series title in 2012, broke his leg after falling during a family ski trip on Thursday. His team, RFK, announced the news on social media, beginning with a tribute to their former driver, Greg Biffle, who died in a plane crash on Thursday.

“First and foremost, we are still deeply saddened by the news of Thursday’s tragedy. The RFK family, as well as the community NASCARThey continue to keep the Biffle family and all those affected in their thoughts. While this comes at an inopportune time, we must, in the interest of transparency, share that RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski suffered a broken leg after falling while skiing during a family outing on Thursday. Keselowski underwent successful surgery and his doctors expect a full recovery.

This injury comes less than a month and a half before the start of the 2026 NASCAR season at Bowman Gray with the Clash, and less than two months before the Daytona 500, the official opening race of the NASCAR season and the most important race on the calendar. Keselowski has stated that he is doing everything he can to be ready for this event, where he has yet to win.

“I feel gratitude for the medical system that took care of me and for the support system around me.”, did he declare. “My focus is entirely on my recovery. I’m motivated to regain my full strength as quickly as possible and I’m going to work tirelessly to be ready for Daytona.”

This is not the first time Keselowski has had to deal with a significant injury. In 2011, he broke his left ankle in a crash during testing at Road Atlanta, which did not prevent him from winning at Pocono the following week, and starting a successful run that led him to the 2012 title.
