A legend proved why he is a legend. G-DRAGON dominated the 2025 Melon Music Awards (MMA 2025), taking home seven trophies in a night that reaffirmed his unmatched presence.

MMA 2025 was held on December 20 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, presenting awards across 29 categories with an audience of approximately 18,000 in attendance.

The spotlight belonged firmly to G-DRAGON. He swept the ceremony’s top honors, including Artist of the Year, KakaoBank Album of the Year, and Best Song of the Year. He also claimed Top 10, Millions Top 10, Best Male Solo, and Best Songwriter, completing an unprecedented seven-award sweep.

In February, G-DRAGON released his third full-length album Ubermensch. The album surpassed one million streams within four hours of release, setting the fastest record ever for a solo artist and earning entry into Melon Hall of Fame’s “Millions Album” category.

“Home Sweet Home (feat. Taeyang, Daesung)” was named Best Song of the Year. The track recorded the highest number of unique listeners on Melon during the first half of the year.

Accepting the Album of the Year award, G-DRAGON said, “This year feels especially meaningful and will stay with me for a long time. While the album is titled Ubermensch, it wasn’t about transcending the self, but more like a personal mantra.” He added his gratitude to all sources of inspiration and to VIP, his fanbase.

JENNIE won Record of the Year with her first solo full-length album Ruby, released in March. Its title track “Like Jennie” entered Melon’s Top 100 immediately upon release and has remained on the chart for ten consecutive months.

Hearts2Hearts and ALLDAY PROJECT were jointly named Rookies of the Year, an award given only once in a lifetime. Hearts2Hearts scored consecutive hits with “The Chase,” “Style,” and “Focus,” while ALLDAY PROJECT topped Melon’s Top 100 just three days after debut with “Famous,” the fastest achievement since the chart’s 2021 reorganization.

ROSÉ was named Best Female Solo Artist. IVE won Best Group (Female), while BOYNEXTDOOR took Best Group (Male).

The ceremony featured standout performances from top artists. RIIZE showcased their growth narrative through three concepts—grandeur, intensity, and exhilaration—performing “Fame,” “Bang Bad Back,” and “Fly Up.” IVE delivered back-to-back performances of their hit tracks “Rebel Heart,” “Attitude,” and “XOXZ,” with “XOXZ” presented in a newly rearranged, high-energy version.

EXO received an explosive response, appearing in military-inspired outfits and opening with the intro of “Wolf,” followed by “The Eve” and “Growl.” They concluded with a stage of “Back It Up,” a track from their upcoming eighth full-length album, marking its first-ever broadcast performance and featuring a dance break by Sehun and Kai.

aespa presented an MMA 2025-exclusive rearranged medley. “Drift” was staged with a large dance crew, followed by intensified versions of “Rich Man” and “Dirty Work,” complete with a dance break.

G-DRAGON’s stage was described as the realm of an artist. Blending music, fashion, and trend-setting visuals, he appeared in a red outfit with a crown during “Drama,” delivered vivid catharsis with “Home Sweet Home,” and closed with “Crooked,” highlighted by dynamic ad-libs.
