‘The Ontario government is working to deliver care in our community and ease pressure at the
Mattawa Hospital,’ said MPP Vic Fedeli

The Mattawa Hospital has received an early Christmas present from the province—$250,000 to support operations for the 2025-2026 year.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli made the announcement on Thursday, December 18, noting, “The Ontario government is working to deliver care in our community and ease pressure at the Mattawa Hospital.”

“We recognize the vital role our hospital plays in providing access to connected, high-quality healthcare services, and today’s investment will help them continue to meet the needs of patients,” Fedeli said in a release.

Fedeli’s release also emphasized the Ontario government through its Your Health: A plan for Connected and Convenient Care, is expanding and modernizing hospitals to ensure people can connect to the quality care they need, when and where they need it.

Part of these improvements, Fedeli’s release added, is through the government’s $160 million investment in the Ontario Learn and Stay program, which encourages medical students to commit to practicing as family doctors in the province.

Tanya Bélanger, Mattawa General Hospital President and CEO, said, “We truly appreciate this increase in funding and the recognition of the essential work we do. We are grateful for this step in the right direction and look forward to sustained and meaningful support to ensure we can continue providing the level of care and services that the people of Ontario deserve.”
