World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz is set to face rising Brazilian prodigy Joao Fonseca in an exhibition “Super Match” staged in Fonseca’s home nation in 2026. The event will be held at Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo, giving the local hero a rare chance to face the sport’s current most dominant name in front of a home crowd.

The exhibition is scheduled for December 12, 2026, with tickets expected to go on sale this December in advance due to massive anticipation and the star power the two players now carry.

A Rivalry Already Sampled in Miami

Despite both of them having yet to face each other on the ATP Tour, this will not be the first exhibition between Alcaraz and Fonseca. The two squared off in Miami earlier this month as part of the Miami Invitational, which also featured Amanda Anisimova and Jessica Pegula.

That previous meeting between the two former Next Gen ATP Finals champions went down to a deciding match tiebreak, with Alcaraz ultimately prevailing in front of a crowd that leaned heavily Brazilian — a familiar atmosphere throughout Fonseca’s breakout year.

A Taste of What’s to Come

While Alcaraz is now a favorite at every tournament he enters, Fonseca remains in the developmental phase that Alcaraz experienced several years ago. Still, many in tennis believe Fonseca is one of the few emerging talents capable of eventually challenging both Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the highest levels, especially in the sport’s marquee events.

Of course, the ultimate excitement will come when Alcaraz and Fonseca finally meet in a true ATP-level contest with real stakes, rather than an exhibition. However, given the admiration that tennis fans have for both players, even a showcase match feels monumental—particularly one played in the hometown of a rising national star. Both Spain and Brazil are deeply passionate sporting nations, and with their top tennis players set to share the court once again, even an exhibition is likely to feel like a spectacle.
