KAWARTHA LAKES- In five months, the team at Russell West Optometry in Lindsay and their five-to-one matching initiative raised $5,020 from patients and staff, resulting in a total donation of $30,020 to the WE ARE THE ROSS capital campaign!

The team launched its CHANGE FOR CHANGE fundraiser in the summer, encouraging patients to donate their change or to add a preferred amount to their invoice. RWO owners Dr. Brett Marchand and Dr. Liana Cooper committed to match their patients’ giving five-to-one up to a total of $25,000.

With the spirit of giving in the air, the $5,000 goal was exceeded on December 16 thanks to contributions from patients and RWO staff. “We’ve had so many people asking about the WE ARE THE ROSS messages we have all over the building. When we tell them that we have interactions with the Ross all the time, especially involving stroke patients, they are very eager to support the cause,” said Dr. Liana Cooper. “We all have a part to play in our community’s health care.”

“It’s been so much fun hearing updates about Russell West Optometry’s CHANGE FOR CHANGE fundraiser and watching their donation tracker climb,” said Erin Coons, RMH Foundation CEO. “We sincerely appreciate all the work the team has put into their fundraising initiative, and we want to thank all of their patients and staff who gave so generously upon learning that their giving would be matched five-to-one by Dr. Cooper and Dr. Marchand. Russell West Optometry is a valued member of our WE ARE THE ROSS Business Community.”

The WE ARE THE ROSS campaign supports the hospital’s highest priority projects, funding $25 million in essential facilities and technology improvements including the expansion of the Emergency Department and ICU, leading-edge diagnostic technology and life-saving bedside equipment.
