The Edmonton Elks signed defensive back JJ Ross to a two-year contract extension that will put him in green and yellow through the 2027 season, the team announced on Wednesday.
Ross, 24, appeared in 13 games as a rookie last season, recording 52 defensive tackles and was tied for the team lead with three interceptions.
The 6-foot-3 defensive back signed with the Elks in July of 2024 after playing three seasons with the University of Western Illinois Leathernecks.
He had 80 defensive tackles and three interceptions during his 30-game NCAA career.
Ross appeared in one game during the 2024 season and began the 2025 campaign on the practice roster before being elevated for a Week 8 contest with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Edmonton finished last in the CFL’s West Division with a 7-11 record last season and missed the playoffs for a fifth consecutive season.
