Pat Finn, an American actor and comedian featured on TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle has died at the age of 60.

His family posted a statement to Instagram, sharing that he passed from cancer on Dec. 22.

“Pat never met a stranger – only friends he didn’t know yet,” the statement read, going on to say that it would be “hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him.”

Originally from Wilmette, Ill., Finn came from an improv comedy background, performing at Second City in Chicago, as well as its touring company. His many television credits include Murphy Brown, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Seinfeld and Friends, where he played the role of Dr. Roger. In addition to acting, he was also an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado.

On Instagram, actor Richard Kind posted a tribute to Finn, saying that there was “no kinder, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter.” In the post’s comments, former Saturday Night Live actor Rachel Dratch added: “The best.”

Finn leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, parents and siblings.
