Steinbach RCMP are investigating a fatal snowmobile collision that occurred Thursday morning in the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie.
Police say officers were called at 11:50 a.m. on December 26 to a report of a collision near a residence on Carriere Drive West.
According to RCMP, a 41-year-old man was found at the scene requiring medical attention. Officers provided first aid until emergency medical services arrived.
Details of the collision
Investigators believe the man had been operating a snowmobile on private property when he lost control of the machine.
Police say the snowmobile crossed over the roadway and struck an embankment on the opposite side.
RCMP indicate the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was ejected from the snowmobile, sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Investigation ongoing
STARS Air Ambulance was called to transport the patient to Winnipeg hospital but was called off after the man was pronounced deceased.
Steinbach RCMP say the investigation into the collision is continuing.
