The Buffalo Sabres held a major press conference on Wednesday, and now they’re facing ridicule online after the incredibly anti-climactic revelation.
For the past 15 years, it’s safe to say that the Buffalo Sabres have been nothing short of an embarrassment in the NHL, with the team failing to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs each and every year since 2010/11.
That has continued in recent times, and now only have they struggled on the ice, but away from the ice, the Pegula family led by owner Terry have taken plenty of criticism online for the way they’ve run the organization.
The peak of Sabres mediocrity was at its best on Wednesday, with the team holding an exciting press conference, with several key pieces of the organization using a key to open a door to reveal a very exciting announcement.
The only issue? The grand announcement was simply the extension of the naming rights for the KeyBank Center, the home of the team, something that had already been announced online, and unsurprisingly, fans on social media were having a field day with it.
Unsurprisingly, fans are mocking the entire Sabres organization for making such a big deal of the announcement, an announcement that doesn’t have any effect on the day-to-day of the team or the fans, with the owner and the front office making this out to be some sort of massive announcement.
Ultimately, this is just who the Sabres are at this point, and while some fans got excited when this press conference was revealed, many knew to expect the worst, and that’s exactly what happened and this organization continues to be one of, if not the worst run franchise in all of sports.
