Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson has opened the door for a potential return to a prestigious race. He has expressed an interest in competing in the Rolex 24 once again.
The reigning Cup Series champion sat down this offseason with Ryan Eversley and Sean Heckman for the “Dinner With Racers” podcast. He covered many topics during this discussion, including the quality of Mexican food in North Carolina and how he used to perform Afroman songs during bar karaoke.
Although the annual endurance race at Daytona International Speedway became a far more important part of the episode.
“I think at this stage in my career, yeah, I’d do it again,” Larson said during the sitdown. “I had fun those three years I did it. I didn’t want to keep doing it every year.”
Larson added that he definitely wants to compete in the Rolex 24 again but clarified that he wants to be in the best car for this grueling race. This would provide the best opportunity to win once again.
Larson has competed in the Rolex 24 three times in his racing career. He made his debut in the IMSA season-opening event in 2014 while driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. He returned to the endurance race in both 2015 and 2016.
The two-time Cup Series champion shared the Chip Ganassi Racing entry with multiple standout drivers over this three-year run. This includes Tony Kanaan, Scott Dixon, and Mario Franchitti in 2014. Jamie McMurray replaced Franchitti in the lineup in both 2015 and 2016.
The 2015 event served as the standout performance for this group of drivers. They scored the win in the No. 02 entry after leading 264 of their 740 completed laps.

While Larson has a desire to compete in the prestigious event once again, it is unlikely to happen this season. The preseason test for this event has already happened, and then the Roar Before the 24 will take place on Jan. 17-19, 2026, as competitors take on the Daytona Road Course on a more limited basis.
The Rolex 24, which will feature other NASCAR drivers in Connor Zilisch and AJ Allmendinger, will take place on Jan. 21-25, 2026.
