The United Cup group stage matches continue at the RAC Arena in Perth as the defending champion, Team USA, takes on Team Argentina in the night session. But before that, the morning session will take place between Team France and Team Switzerland. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for all the confirmed matches on the slate. But which players will win?

United Cup Day 2 Predictions
Belinda Bencic vs Leolia Jeanjean

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Belinda Bencic had a positive comeback season in 2025, finishing just outside the Top 10. She showed a great level of tennis at times and will be looking to make bigger strides this season. Bencic has a 2-2 win-loss record at the United Cup and is the heavy favourite to improve it in this match. Leolia Jeanjean is making her debut at this competition, and I don’t think she’ll cause much trouble for the Olympic gold medalist.
Prediction: Bencic in 2

Stan Wawrinka vs Arthur Rinderknech

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka will start his farewell season competing for his country and hopes to deliver a vintage performance. Injuries and inconsistency have plagued Wawrinka in the last two seasons, but he can still overpower opponents on his day, and that’s what he will be looking for in this match. Arthur Rinderknech might have been overshadowed by his cousin last season, but his performance at times was at a top-20 level. It may take the Frenchman some time to reach his best level here, which could be enough for Wawrinka to take the lead and win.
Prediction: Wawrinka in 3

Coco Gauff vs Solana Sierra

Head-to-Head: first meeting

World No.3 Coco Gauff was at her peak during the United Cup last year as she did not lose a set en route to winning the competition. She will be looking for a similar display and has a good opening match on paper. Solana Sierra is a solid player, but she lacks the firepower to challenge an elite player like Gauff consistently. I am expecting a comfortable victory for the former US Open champion.
Prediction: Gauff in 2

Taylor Fritz vs Sebastian Baez

Head-to-Head: Fritz 5-0 Baez

Taylor Fritz has played some of the best tennis of his career at the United Cup and is a key reason for Team USA’s success. Fritz fell to No.6 in the rankings after being No.4 for the majority of the 2025 season, and he will be eager to get off to a good start. Sebastian Baez has never won a set against Fritz in five meetings, and I don’t see that changing on a hard court. Fritz has the serve and firepower to keep Baez at bay all match.
Prediction: Fritz in 2
