Montreal Canadiens defenceman Mike Matheson will not play Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes due to an upper-body injury, the team announced.
Mathesono was ruled out just minutes before puck drop. Rookie Adam Engstrom will take his spot in the lineup.

Matheson took part in Thursday’s morning skate and appeared ready to play.
The 31-year-old was injured in Tuesday’s 3-2 overtime win over the Florida Panthers after being elbowed in the head by Panthers forward Brad Marchand late in the contest.
Matheson, a native of Point-Claire, Que., has four goals and 18 points in 37 games this season and averages 25:06 TOI.
