Mesa police responded to a crash involving a golf cart and a pedestrian on Friday evening. Here’s what we know.

MESA, Ariz. — A man is dead after being hit by a golf cart in Mesa, the city’s police department says.

Mesa police responded to the area near Greenfield Road and Southern Avenue on Friday afternoon for reports of a golf cart and a pedestrian involved in a crash. 

A witness told police the golf cart was lifted off the man, and CPR was initiated by a nurse at the scene. 

A woman whom police believe was associated with the golf cart also stayed at the scene. 

The man who was hit and the woman were taken to the hospital. The man later died.

Police said the man and the woman are believed to have both been in the golf cart before the crash, and then the man left the golf cart.

Impairment is believed to have been a factor, police said.

The identities of those involved were not released.
