Pros get a lot of gear. Like, a lot. And for a guy like Tadej Pogačar, well, his closet is more than full. If I wanted to, I could probably go back and track all the leader’s jerseys, the championship jerseys, and just the general team kit the world champion has received over the years. But ain’t nobody got time for that.
Pogačar is the world champion. Twice, no less. But the Slovenian has added another champs to his palmarès: the 2025 UEC road European championships — or, for short, the Euro champs. Pogačar crowned a remarkable week by claiming his first European road race title in southeast France, adding it to his recent worlds win.
On a tough 202 km course featuring repeated climbs, Pogačar launched a decisive solo attack with 75 km remaining, shortly after Jonas Vingegaard abandoned, briefly taking Remco Evenepoel with him before riding alone to victory. Evenepoel, already European time trial champion, settled for silver after a determined chase, while France’s Paul Seixas surged late on the Côte de Val d’Enfer to claim bronze ahead of Juan Ayuso and Christian Scaroni.
Fast forward to 2026
On Jan. 1, it was a new kit day for everybody. Canadian Cycling Magazine had all kinds of content about all the Canucks riding for their new teams — always fun to check out. Check out Hugo Houle and his new Alpecin – Premier Tech swag. Sarah Van Dam is on Visma – Lease a Bike. Oh and Alison Jackson has an awesome national championship jersey on her new French team.
But Pogi had a new jersey out on his ride that was super cool, and unfortunately, the sartorial hierarchy takes over. A continental championship is a big deal and a huge honour — but a rainbow jersey trumps all. Here’s one of the greatest riders of all time, wearing a rare alt jersey.
I mean, tbh, it’s kind of a beauty.
