One of the most celebrated and unsettling films in cinema history, The Silence of the Lambs returns to the big screen in Sault Ste. Marie for a one-night-only screening presented by The Reel Film Forum on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre’s Ranger Theatre.
Released in 1991, The Silence of the Lambs redefined the psychological thriller. The film follows FBI trainee Clarice Starling as she seeks the help of imprisoned psychiatrist and serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter to track another murderer, known as “Buffalo Bill.” What unfolds is a tense, methodical descent into fear, one that continues to grip audiences more than three decades later.
Starring Jodie Foster in an Academy Award–winning performance alongside Anthony Hopkins’ unforgettable portrayal of Hannibal Lecter, the film went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
“Some films are better when you watch them with other people,” said Keith Brown of The Reel Film Forum. “The Silence of the Lambs thrives on collective tension, the kind you feel in a room when everyone is holding their breath at the same time.”
The screening will feature a special guest video intro, along with door prizes. Snacks, drinks, and bar service will be available on site.
