Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors broke multiple NBA records in their win over the Utah Jazz, but one with his father stands out.

Whenever he does choose to retire, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors will end his career as one of the best basketball players to ever step foot on an NBA court. But even with his time in the league winding down, the all-time three-point leader is still setting records.

Most recently, Curry, along with his father, Dell, broke the record for the most games played by a father-son duo. The previous record was held by Dolph and Danny Shayes with 2,134 total games played, but with Curry’s appearance in the Warriors’ latest win over the Utah Jazz, he and his father now hold the record with 2,135 games.

After setting the record and beating the Jazz, Curry was asked about the accomplishment.

“It’s cool,” Curry said, before then adding some more context to making history. “Just longevity and the family business being in this game. You add my brother’s points it’s even better, so pretty special for the Curry family as a whole. Knowing that (Dell) played for 16 years, I’m in my 17th year still trying to do it. A dream come true to be honest.”

Steph And Dell Curry Record For Most Games By Father-Son Duo

The Curry of Golden State, in his 17th season, has now played a total of 1,052 games, while Dell, who played with the Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, and most notably the Charlotte Hornets in a career that spanned from 1986 to 2002, played a total of 1,083 games.

Along with the Schayes’, further down on the father-son list feature Kobe Bryant and Joe Bryant (1,952 total games), Klay Thompson and Mychal Thompson (1,831 total games), Tim Hardaway and Tim Hardaway Jr. (1,712 total games), and Rick Barry and Brent Barry (1,706 total games).

While the Currys now have the record for the most games played by a father-son duo, LeBron James and Bronny James still hold the record for the most points scored by a father-son duo. The older, the league’s most prominent scorer of all-time, has a total of 42,519 points and counting, while the younger has a total of 91.

Lopsided, but still hard to compete with.

The James family has a total of 1,623 games played between the two, and unless Bronny can become a consistent rotational player in the NBA, the Curry’s total games played record, for now at least, appears to be safe.

Steph Curry With Another NBA Record

Along with breaking the record for the most games played by a father-son duo in the Warriors’ win over Utah, Curry broke another NBA record on Saturday night.

The 37-year-old scored 20 of Golden State’s 42 third-quarter points, setting the record for the most 20-point quarters in NBA history, as that was the 45th time he’s accomplished the feat in his illustrious career.

According to NBA stats, Curry already held the record for the most 20-point quarters this century, ahead of Bryant (36) and James Harden (32), but the mark is just another scoring record held by the four-time champion.

While Draymond Green’s ejection led headlines in the Warriors’ win, Curry, along with Jimmy Butler and head coach Steve Kerr, said that they all believe the big man needs to consistently be on the court for the team to succeed.

The Warriors are still struggling to make up any ground in the Western Conference standings, but for now, Curry continues to dazzle in his 17th season.
