Vandals in Minot, Minnesota, have caused thousands of dollars in damage to parts of two golf courses with a snowmobile.

Five greens between Souris Valley Golf Course and Jack Hoeven Wee Links were the targets, and the offenders were caught on videotape, though the surveillance footage didn’t get a clear image of their faces.

The incident happened on the Sunday following Christmas.

“Golf course staff was out checking the course. They notice the damage. We’ve taken pictures and reported it to the Minot Police Department,” Minot Parks Director of Operations Jarrod Olson told TV station KFYR.

Olson is estimating it’ll take $5,000 to $6,000 to repair each green but added that golf course crews won’t know the full extent of the damage until spring after the snow melts.

As far as the vandals, who have still not been caught: “In their mind, they’re probably thinking, ‘Oh, it’s an open area. It’s not damaging anything.’ Well, unfortunately, it is. And motor vehicles, snowmobiles, ATVs and UTVs are not allowed on our properties,” Olson told the TV station.
