Emma Stone doesn’t seem like a gal who would be easily offended, but today W magazine pushed the ever-cool celebrity over the edge. The publication did it by asking if the actress will be playing Miss Piggy in the upcoming Miss Piggy film — written by Cole Escola, the Tony-winning Oh, Mary! playwright — which she’s producing. “First of all, that is the biggest insult to Miss Piggy I’ve ever heard, and I will not have her name dragged through the mud like that,” Stone immediately shot back in response. “Why would I play a literal star? She’s the greatest. No, of course I’m not playing Miss Piggy.” Wow! What a (as Miss Piggy might say) faux pas it was to even ask.
Stone is producing the film alongside her best friend, Jennifer Lawrence, who will also not be playing the fabulous lead. “Neither is Jen,” Stone told W. “We pale in comparison.” Stone and Lawrence may have three Oscar wins between them, but neither has acted alongside Joan Rivers. “Are you out of your mind?” Stone continued. “Miss Piggy is playing Miss Piggy. She would be storming out right now at the mere suggestion.” Kermie will be hearing all about this tonight before bed.
