LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — Two Arkansans are stepping into the spotlight on the national stage, competing for a whopping $5 million on season two of “Beast Games,” hosted by YouTuber Mr. Beast. Among them is Little Rock native Pe’lar Handie, an MMA fighter who snagged a spot on the show after submitting a video showcasing her skills.

“I saw that he was looking for people to join his competition, and I submitted a video,” Handie said. “I had my MMA belt on, and I was like, you may be wondering why I’m wearing this belt. And I told them I was an MMA fighter from Arkansas. And I got a email about a hour later saying they would love to have me.”

Handie described the competition as a mix of physical and mental challenges, with contestants facing tasks like pattern recognition and height-related challenges. “It was just a surreal experience,” he said. “Standing beside $5 million every day was just like, wow.”

The competition features 200 contestants, split into 100 strong and 100 smart participants. Handie, on the strong side, prepared for the show by undergoing a physical test involving push-ups, pull-ups, and leg presses. “I treated the competition as I would like a fight, like preparing me mentally for a fight,” she said.

The show, filmed with 1,000 cameras capturing every moment, airs on Prime Video and YouTube. Handie is excited for viewers to see him in a new light. “A lot of people think of me as just an MMA fighter, so it’s just good to see myself in a completely different setting,” she said.
