According to Penn Medicine, vocal cord cysts, nodules and polyps are non-cancerous growths or bumps that are most commonly seen among people who spend a lot of time speaking or singing.
Growths typically form on the vocal cords, the muscles and tissue that line your voice box (larynx) and are caused by a virus, illness or poor vocal technique/hygiene, Penn Medicine says.
Treatments include voice therapy, behavioral modifications and surgery.
