It was one nomination after another for One Battle After Another at the Screen Actors Guild’s 2026 awards.

The newly rebranded Actors Awards unveiled its contenders across film and television Wedesday, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s political caper landing a record-setting seven nominations. The film, fresh off a sweep of the “Big Four” followed by the Critics Choice Association’s Best Picture win on Sunday, rewrote history with nods for acting ensemble, stunt ensemble, actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), actress (Chase Infiniti), and supporting actress (Teyana Taylor) and double nominees for supporting actor (Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro).

'Sinners,' 'Frankenstein' The Secret Agent; It Was Just an Accident; Sentimental Value

The previous film record was five nominations, shared by several films and most recently by Wicked last year. (A year after tying the then-record, Wicked: For Good only managed a single nod: Ariana Grande for supporting actress.)

The One Battle cast will be facing off with several Academy Award-caliber competitors for Best Film Ensemble: Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, and Sinners.

Sinners finished second with five nominations, including stunt ensemble, actor (Michael B. Jordan), supporting actress (Wunmi Mosaku), and, in a surprise, supporting actor (Miles Caton). Frankenstein netted three (stunt ensemble and supporting actor for Jacob Elordi), as did Hamnet (actress for Jessie Buckley, supporting actor for Paul Mescal) and Marty Supreme (actor for Timothée Chalamet and, defying the odds, Odessa A’zion for supporting).

Chalamet could establish a new milestone. The Marty Supreme star won SAG’s lead actor prize last year for A Complete Unknown and is a frontrunner again this year. If he manages the repeat, he would become the first actor ever to win two consecutive SAG Awards in individual film categories (not including ensembles).

The actors guild has a habit of overlooking international stars and foreign-language films, which meant actors from potential Oscar contenders like Sentimental Value (Renate Reinsve, Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning) and The Secret Agent (Wagner Moura) didn’t hear their names called.

With actors constituting the largest voting bloc in the Motion Picture Academy, SAG’s Actor Awards are a key harbinger of the Oscars — but they don’t always move in lockstep. Last year, for example, the two supporting winners, Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain) and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez), notched corresponding Academy Awards, but the lead categories were split: Chalamet (A Complete Unknown) and Demi Moore (The Substance) triumphed at the then-SAG Awards, but Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) and Mikey Madison (Anora) ultimately took home Oscars. SAG’s proxy for Best Picture, the ensemble award, is a less reliable predictor, only matching up with the Academy Awards in 15 of 30 years all time. Last year, the guild backed Conclave, while Anora scored the Oscar.

On the TV side, the casts of The Diplomat, Landman, The Pitt, Severance, and The White Lotus made the cut in drama, while Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, and The Studio ensembles will face off in comedy.

The Studio led all TV nominees with five bids, followed by Adolescence and The White Lotus with four apiece.
