Will Arnett has stepped in to replace David Harbour in Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth! drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Harbour had earlier pulled out of the project that also stars Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde after the wrap of Stranger Things, apparently in need of some downtime. Harbour plays the role of Jim Hopper on the Netflix drama.

Gilroy is directing Behemoth! for Searchlight Pictures and represents his first major work from since he wrapped up all his commitments to season two of Andor. That project earned him an Emmy Award nomination for best series.

Gilroy wrote the script for Behemoth! and is producing with Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy, both of whom he worked with on Andor. The recasting for Behemoth! followed comic and actor Arnett coming off a star turn in Bradley Cooper‘s third feature film, Is This Thing On?, where he appeared opposite Laura Dern. He also has credits in cult TV comedies like Arrested Development, 30 Rock and BoJack Horseman. 

While Searchlight has not put out an official logline for Behemoth!, sources tell THR the story is described as a love letter to the music of the movies and the people who make it. It tells of a musician, to be played by Pascal, from a family of musicians who returns to Los Angeles. Wilde will play the man’s former lover.

Senior vp of production Rayne Roberts and creative executive Cameron Chidsey are overseeing for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to heads of production and development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
