Nintendo has just released a brand new overview trailer for Mario Tennis Fever, offering fans their most detailed look yet at the upcoming Mushroom Kingdom sports title. The game, which launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12, 2026, mixes the series’ trademark arcade energy with a slew of new mechanics and surprises designed to shake up how you think about virtual tennis.

Longtime fans will recognize familiar shots like topspin and slice balls, but Nintendo isn’t content to leave it at that. Instead, the unveiling highlights a new suite of Fever Rackets — each with its own personality and effect on the court. These special rackets fill a Fever Gauge as you play, unlocking powerful Fever Shots that can dramatically alter match conditions. Want to freeze a section of the court? There’s a racket for that. Want to shrink your opponent to a comical size? There’s a racket for that too.
Arguably the biggest headline from the trailer is the roster. With 38 playable characters, Mario Tennis Fever boasts the largest cast in the series’ history. Classic faces like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Bowser return, but so do more surprising entries — including characters such as Piranha Plant and even Baby versions of familiar heroes and villains. It’s clear Nintendo wants every match to feel distinct, not just because of how characters play, but because of who you choose to play as.
Alongside flashy moves and broad character variety, the trailer also teases a robust assortment of modes. Traditional Tournament and Online matches are present, of course, but Mario Tennis Fever branches out into modes like Trial Towers, which layers challenge after challenge, and Mix It Up, where courts themselves can shift and bend under Wonder-style effects. A returning Adventure mode brings a narrative twist: monsters on a remote island turn the cast into babies, forcing them to relearn the fundamentals of tennis in a series of increasingly wild scenarios.
Nintendo is also leaning into community and social play in this release. The game supports online ranked matches, casual rooms with customizable rules, and even GameShare, so friends nearby can jump in without each owning a copy. And for players who want a bit of flair with their arcades, Nintendo is launching new Joy-Con 2 colors — Light Purple and Light Green — to coincide with the game’s February launch.
Taken as a whole, the trailer paints Mario Tennis Fever as a vibrant fusion of competitive sports and signature Nintendo chaos — a title that should please both longtime fans of the franchise and anyone looking for inventive multiplayer fun on the Switch 2.
