Actor Kalabhavan Navas found dead at Chottanikkara hotel

Ernakulam: Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas passed away at a hotel in Chottanikkara here on Friday. He was 51. According to reports, he was found dead in his hotel room on Friday evening. It is suspected that he died of a heart attack.
Manorama News reported that Navas was shooting for an upcoming movie, ‘Prakambanam’. Navas had planned to vacate the room as he had completed shooting for the movie on Friday.Â
A hotel employee found the actor unconscious in his room when he went to confirm his checkout. Though he was rushed to the nearby hospital, he was declared dead by the doctors.Â
According to the police, nothing suspicious was found in his room. His body, which is currently kept at SD Tata hospital in Chottanikkara, will be handed over to his family after the autopsy on Saturday.
Navas was popular as a comedian and supporting actor in numerous movies, including Mattupetti Machan, Junior Mandrake, and Amma Ammayi Amma.
Navas rose to fame as a mimicry artiste after joining Kalabhavan. He made his film debut with the 1995 movie Chaithanyam. Apart from the big screen, he also performed in television shows and numerous stage events. His late father, Aboobacker, was an actor and a renowned theatre artist. His wife, Rehana, and brother, Kalabhavan Niyas, are also actors.
