Motorists must wait until Tuesday to cross Rogers Pass, as the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden stays closed until at least midnight for avalanche control.
According to DriveBC, this stretch of the national transportation corridor closed at 9 a.m. PST Monday, Jan. 12, to allow Parks Canada time and space to perform snowslide-mitigating work in Glacier National Park.
Avalanche Canada reports that the danger rating in the park has hit a high of “extreme” in the alpine, and “high” in the treeline and everywhere below.

The Revelstoke-Golden route won’t reopen until at least 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, with passenger vehicles still permitted to proceed eastward to Revelstoke but commercial rigs being held farther west in Malakwa.
However, B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit has also scheduled avalanche control Monday afternoon in Three Valley Gap, between Griffin Lake and Clanwilliam Bridge.
The 15-kilometre stretch between Sicamous and Revelstoke will close to traffic from 3 to 5 p.m.
